This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

ClassMate Connect (“ClassMate Connect,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps incoming college students submit introductions for publication on school-focused social media pages. This Privacy Policy applies to classmateconnect.org and the submission, payment, support, and related services we provide.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Contact and identity information: your full name, email address, Instagram handle, and selected school.
  • Submission content: your bio or caption, uploaded photos, crop selections, and your confirmation that you own the photos or have permission to submit them.
  • Order information: your posting-speed selection, promo code, price, payment and subscription status, selected payment provider, and identifiers associated with Stripe or PayPal checkout. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number or Venmo login credentials.
  • Communications: messages you send when asking a question, requesting a school, or seeking support.

Information collected automatically

We and our service providers may receive standard technical information when you use the site, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, timestamps, referring page, and security or diagnostic logs. Stripe, PayPal, and Venmo may also use cookies or similar technologies during checkout and portal access under their own policies.

How we use information

  • To create, review, format, schedule, and publish the post you request.
  • To display a preview and communicate about your submission.
  • To process payments, manage subscriptions, apply promotions, and prevent fraud.
  • To operate the administrative review and posting workflow.
  • To troubleshoot, secure, maintain, and improve the service.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and comply with legal obligations.

Public posts and uploaded photos

The purpose of the service is public sharing. If your submission is approved, your name, Instagram handle, bio or caption, and photos may be posted publicly on the selected Instagram page. Other people may view, save, share, screenshot, or repost public content. We cannot control copies made by other users or the privacy practices of Instagram or other third-party platforms.

Uploaded images are stored using a publicly accessible HTTPS link so our posting workflow can retrieve them. Do not upload a photo or include information that you do not want used for the requested public post.

How we share information

We may share information only as reasonably necessary with:

  • Stripe for checkout, billing, subscription management, fraud prevention, and payment support.
  • PayPal and Venmo for one-time Venmo checkout, fraud prevention, payment confirmation, and payment support.
  • Supabase for database and image storage.
  • Vercel for website hosting, delivery, and operational logs.
  • Make and related automation providers to transfer approved submission details into our posting workflow.
  • Instagram and Meta services when content is published to the school-focused page you selected.
  • Professional advisers, authorities, or other parties when required by law, needed to protect rights and safety, or connected with a business transfer.

These providers may process information under their own privacy notices and contractual obligations.

Retention

We retain submission and transaction records for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain posting and payment records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and satisfy legal or accounting obligations. You may request deletion by emailing us. We may retain limited records when legally required or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Deleting our copy does not necessarily remove a post already published on Instagram, information retained by a payment provider, or copies made by other people. We will make reasonable efforts to address removal requests for content under our control.

Your choices and requests

You may ask to access, correct, or delete information associated with your submission by emailing classmate.connect7@gmail.com. To help protect your information, we may need to verify your identity. You can manage or cancel a Stripe subscription through the Customer Portal linked on our homepage.

Children and minors

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it. If you are under 18, use the service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian and obtain permission from every person shown in submitted photos.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No website, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

U.S. processing

ClassMate Connect and its providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Privacy protections in those locations may differ from those in your home jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Material changes apply prospectively unless otherwise permitted by law.
